| Yep, like Kidachei says there's a couple of games being played at the moment - one in the Pirates Guild and another on Neo Vegeta. The game in the Pirates Guild is going to be a tournament, so sign up quick and I'll arrange who you're going to battle. I'd suggest having a nose around the discussion board for more information as the Free Chat area isn't really for discussing RPG details. Also, if you have a story for an entirely new game thread that you would like to start just let us know in the discussion board. So long as the plot fits into the DOF universe you can get it started right away. | |

| Well, contrary to what Starkiller just said, I would recommend reading EVERYTHING! But then DOF has more to it now since I first joined. Anyhow, I was wondering when you'd pop up. Nice to see you around! Eh, Halloween! Oh how I wished it was offically celebrated here! I went Trick or Treating for the first time ever last year and so many people turned us away saying it was a 'Yank tradition' (how racist and incorrect!) and that they didn't have anything to do with it! This year, I plan on attending the metal concert held at our town's local Leading Edge (a music and DVD shop) as they're the ONLY shop in town that actually does something for this holiday! October always makes me wish I was American! Damn you lucky Americans!!! *Shakes fist* | |

| Lol. Those videos are great. Year long school? = year long strike. No teacher with half a brain would ever stay in the job if that ever happened. I wouldn't mind all that junk at Halloween though...pity we don't practice it here (not really anyway). | |

| Believe me, there are more kid's in America that actually don't give a bull and some who do (Like moi! XD) want to get a living instead of living somewhere and working at Mcdonalds and such XD Though getting a job at a young age is good 'cause you get more money to get stuff ^^
Too bad there are not alot of things us kids could choose from, only restaurant jobs I bet XD

| Getting money young is not great unless it is something that you can turn into a career or gets some serious skills out of. Better to stay in school and get educated - you are far more likey to pick up decent job that way.
People who hire others will always look for the more qualified or the more educated, because they (generally speaking) do a better job, and they have to spend less money on training them themselves.
Restaurant hire kids because they are cheaper to pay! And actual good jobs usually pay more and so are harder to find because they all get snatched up so quickly!

| lol! Spoken like a true teacher, Karete. You have become so wise over the years. Unlike me. I'm still the bum I've always been. lol, I mean I literally study magic practises. And temporalspatiality, but don't even get me started on that. XD I just realised that this time last year I had done SO much more than I've done this year. I was out more for one thing, kayaking, water polo, paddled 60miles up the Spey River, partying, hiding dead pheasants in the kitchen to scare the beejeebus out of my flatmate ( ). This year I haven't done anything because of my 3 week absence. I feel like everyone is miles ahead of me in terms of both work and socialising. Boo, hiss. X( | |

| Dude, one of my third year classes...I think it was 'Controversies in the Philosophy of Science' had us debating the claim that animals could learn to talk/speak/communicate on a level with humans or whether we were just anthropomorphing what we wanted to see on them i.e. that all they really did was mimick.
It was such an awesome class with such terribly weird journals that we had to read. I mean really, apart from the articles on chimps being taught sign language, you wouldn't think anyone would waste their time trying to find out!
However I do thank them for one of the most interesting and entertaining classes I have ever attended!

| That's kind of what we were discussing yesterday. I'm of the opinion that a number of species have more levels of intersubjectivity than we used to believe, but not anywhere close to the levels of intersubjectivity humans have (i.e. I'm aware that you're aware that I'm aware etc.). That's flipping impossible. XD I have read a few interesting arguments relating to chimps and carrion birds 'at play', which would suggest they have a higher state of awareness than we would previously have thought (though that's still debatable and not everyone agrees) and there was a fantastic article regarding a grumpy old chimp in a zoo who hated tourists so much that every night he would gather the largest sharpest rocks he could find (and if he couldn't find any, he'd break up the cement floor) to throw at them the next day. It's hilarious, but also an important observation as the chimp is preparing for something that he knew would irritate him in the near future. XDD | |

| Yes! That was it...and I think I remember reading something similar (if not the same thing) about a chimp doing that sort of thing too.
I always loved the debate over cats and dogs and their awareness of self. Dogs will bark at a mirror, because they are aware that they can see another dog but are not aware that it is a reflection of themself. Cats on the other no one can really prove anything because a) they see the mirror and don't respond, indicating that they don't recognise the reflection as a cat or b) they see the mirror and don't respond, indicating that the cat thinks we're all stupid an is completely disinterested in the whole experiment. XD
I like the second one.
Though in dogs' defence, I have seen cats react the same way...occasionally.

| I love the second one also! As a quick note, I want to thank everyone who offered support and kind words during the Shroom incident. Although it wasn't really my fault (as everyone keeps telling me) I would still like to apologise for what happened. Anyhow, I listened to Zarbon's voice from the Oceab dub and to be honest with you, it made me cringe. He sounded a little too rough. I like delicate, gay sounding Zarbon better. Or maybe it's just because I'm used to it? Either way, I hope I don't stress out Karete too bad. Does anyone here like sock puppets? | |

| Sock puppets are fun. But I haven't played with them since I was a kid. Also, I was away during the whole shroom thing, but that guy seemed kinda freaky anyway. Plus, I really doubt he knows what "raping canon" means. Unfortunately, I do. *shudder* Besides, don't worry, Strefe, you really don't seem like the type to anger anyone, I've read a few posts and you weren't condescending nor insulting at all. Perhaps the guy just doesn't respond well to criticism... And anyway, what was with the whole Nappa Abridged thing? I wanna be Trunks Goes Insane, then, so I can say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! Regarding dubs, I think Funimation is better overall, though I really like Ocean's Vegeta. Brian Drummond is pretty awesome. | |

| And now I have a mental image of Celeria playing with a sock puppet. Gawd, I love my mind sometimes. Some of the nutty stuff I think of is so crazy that I never get bored! Although I'm guessing she'd be OOC if she were to do such. Aww, thanks Celeria! I do try not to upset anyone. I'm glad it's noticeable. I love Vegeta's japanese voice as well as his FUNi voice. It's almost like his personality changes but doesn't in the japanese version! | |

| Ocean Zarbon = Win
All other opinions fail...lol. Nah, Star and I got used to that version because it aired first and then when Funi took over we kinda destested it. It's like watching anime with subs and then switching to dubs. It just sounds wrong.
Incidently DBZ is the only anime I can't watch with subs. The voices annoy the hell out of me. Go figure cause I hate dubs for just about everything else.

| Dubs = voice-overs. Subs = original language (in this case, Japanese) with English subtitles. When I first saw DBZ, I saw it half Ocean, half Funi. Funi basically won me over solely for the music. Bruce Faulconer is a genius. I almost exclusively listen to the music from the show when I rp/make DBZ art. Also, I can't watch DBZ in Japanese. I just can't listen to Goku. Plus I'm such a fan of his Funi voice actor, I just can't... Though I've heard the German dub of DBZ. It has probably the best-sounding Frieza yet... | |

| Oh man, yes! Bruce Faulconer really made that FUNimation dub. I have one of the soundtracks back home (if anyone wants it let me know!). I loved his Ginyu Force theme music. God, that's like the soundtrack to my early teenhood. I think you have to actually watch the Ocean dub Zarbon to see how it works if you're used to the FUNi dub Zarbon. It just annoys me how ridiculously camp they made him sound. It's pretty condescending and does nothing for his character. The Ocean voice actor did a fantastic job and developed the "intelligent military tactician" image of Zarbon I have today. Same goes for Jeice - I LOVED his weird Liverpudlian/Scottish Ocean voice. Bless you, Scott McNeil! I just wish he'd gotten to finish the job and voice Jeice throughout the entire Ginyu Saga. ;_; While Jeice's Aussie voice has grown on me, it's not the one I imagine when I'm reading or writing Jeice. I think Chris Sabat just made him sound too whiny. However, Sabat did a brilliant job of Jeice in comparison to DBKai's Jeice. I don't even know what that was all about. XD As for shroom, Strefe you really don't have to apologise to us mate. ^^ Considering he was your friend I'd say his rudeness let you down far more than any of us on here. | |

| And thus did AaronW stumble upon the world of the Random thread. It was at this very moment that all hope for normalcy was cast into the wind, torn asunder by violent squalls and starving sea-birds of yore.
Soon to come would be the breaking of each and every man, woman, and child. They would succumb to the disease that he did spread. Oh yes, twas inevitable.

| Welcome to the random guff thread, AaronW! And Happy Hallowe'en, douche bags! What's everyone's plans for tonight then? I've got the option of either watching Paranormal Activity, going to check out an old abandoned haunted hospital, or party the night away. I'll probably wind up doing all three. XD But I still don't have an outfit. I might just go as a Death Eater as my mate sent me these fantastic Dark Mark tattoos (yes I am and always will be a child at heart). Oh! And in other possibly exciting news, next weekend I might be going up to stay for a few days in my mate's castle up north. So excited! I bet it's haunted. | |
